    Hello!

    I’m new to the CNC world, so this might be a stupid question …

    Over the last few days I have built my MPCNC and done some plotting with a pen. The only thing that’s missing now is a spindle!

    Today I received my 500W brushless spindle from banggood.com.  Thing is, this spindle has a 55mm diameter and I can’t find a mount for it. Not a problem, I can just make my own. Now, while making my mount a question raised. See the following two pictures:

     

    The Question. Why do post people I see on Youtube mount their spindle like in the first picture? Wouldn’t you have more working height with the spindle further up, like in the second picture? I feel like there is something I’m missing here …

    You are 100% correct, I have no idea why they all do that.

    Okay thank you. Can’t wait to get this thing running. Still have to wait for the power supply for the spindle though 🙁
