What bits should I start with? or what makes a good basic entry level set?

You should lead with the kind of material you intend on using. Since I know already know, I would say any of the single flute bits from the shop are the best bet for wood.

V and ball for detailed fret carving too?

Yes depending on how detailed and the type of carvings you want. I never use a ball end much anymore, A vbit has much more detail but a large carving would be much faster with a ball end. It is hard to say, you really need to play around. Those are  the only three you will probably need though.

A just bought the endmill flutes, a ball, V and short flutes.

My first projects will be small. I’m going to build a wood urn with intricate carving for my mom’s ashes, and make a Victorian room divider with fretwork in it.

    Thanks Ryan
