    Hello !

I am doing a metric-based build. My BoM is currently:

1 pcs of M8 Threaded rod
    1 pcs of M8 (130 mm)
    12 pcs of M8 (65 mm)
    2 pcs of M8 (40 mm)
    28 pcs of M8 (30 mm)
    19 pcs of M3 (10 mm)
    57 pcs of M3.5 (20 mm)
    1 of M8 (25 mm) – Coupling nut
    43 of M8 Nylock Nuts
    57 of M3.5 Nylock Nuts

My question is, since bulks are often cheaper; cant i just collapse this into:

1 pcs of M8 Threaded rod
    1 pcs of M8 (130 mm)
    42 pcs of M8 (65 mm) <- here
    19 pcs of M3 (10 mm)
    57 pcs of M3.5 (20 mm)
    1 of M8 (25 mm) – Coupling nut
    43 of M8 Nylock Nuts
    57 of M3.5 Nylock Nuts

Also, I haven’t seen any shops (im from Denmark – Europe) that sells M3.5 – what is this size? Can an M4 do? M3 ?

Just quickly looking at it, m8x30 can’t go much longer in many cases maybe 35/40 but that could be pushing it.

For the most part, I really really tried hard to minimize part diversity. So There isn’t much room to condense other that a few here or there but at that point If you have to buy one you might as well get all the right ones.

    M3.5 are available from

    http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/index2.htm

I think they post to Europe.

I’m going to  use M4, it does mean you will have no movement to adjust squareness, I am only part way through printing the parts, I have put a 4mm reamer through the holes because on my printer they have printed out just under 4mm, I also have a set of drills in 0.1mm increments should I need them.
